We had another successful convention this year, and even broke even on finances. Even though it was a tough economic year for everyone, we had all the dealer slots full except for one. Our attendance overall was about the same as last year too.

The quality of the games was spectacular - perhaps the thought of winning the first "Al" prize motivated the GMs to even greater lengths to provide visually stunning games with well play-tested rules?

'The Dave'

The Dave award was created in honor of Dave Donovan, friend and mentor to us all. Every year we award The Dave to the Game that best exemplifies the hobby. We consider not only the appearance of the game but playability and the overall enjoyment of the players.

'The Al'

The Al award was created in honor of Al Garnache, an avid and active local player. This award is presented for the game with the most stunning visual appeal. We select the game that made us say "Wow!" when we saw it on the table.

Congratulations to Chris Parker. He took home the first "Al" award for his 54mm American Revolution event The Battle of Hobkirk's Hill (Second Battle of Camden)
