101 Big Guns, Big Steel: Intro to GQv3.3, 2nd ed
Table 10 General Quarters v3.3, 2nd ed, Old Dominion GameWorks Ships 1:6000, Ocean 1:18000 Hypothetical USN v IJN conflict 1937 Tim Allen
Description:Ever want to get into naval miniatures in an easy, pain-free way? Don't want to deal with inches or centimeters? Want a system that's quick to learn and play? If so, try GQv3.3/2 in this interwar scenario. Japan and the US could easily have fought a naval war in the Far East Pacific in 1937. Big Guns, Big Steel is the climactic clash of battleships -- both navies wanted it and were prepared for it. In a couple of turns, you, the players, will be running your own games: all player aids are scaled in yards, the miniatures look like what a floatplane pilot might see at altitude, and the charts/tables are easy to read and follow. Great intro for anyone from middle school to assisted living.

304 Deerfield Raid 1704
Table 10 En Garde from Osprey Publishing 28mm King WIlliams War Dave Valentine
Description:“The people of Deerfield had long been living in fearful anticipation of an attack by French and Indians in Canada. Their stockade was built hurriedly in 1690 when they believed they were the next target of the French and Mohawks who attacked Schenectady that winter. Those residents whose homes lay outside the palisade, were encouraged by the town to build refuges within the protected area and to come there at night, for protection against an attack.
The fact that the houses at the north end of the street were empty on the night of February 29, 1704, because the residents of those buildings were "safely" ensconced in shelters within the palisade, gave the French and Indian raiders an advantage. They were able to creep noiselessly down the street and send an advance force to silently climb the snowbank that surrounded the palisade. This group then opened the north gate to admit the others, and the assault began……..”
Partial Narrative by Susan McGowan Titus based on research about John Hawks
The game will be centered around a small party French and Mohawk trying to breach the palisade. The English will be tucked in their houses with only a couple of sentry wandering the streets. Can the French get the north gate open before they are discovered? Can they get away with captives?

306 Longstreet Obeys! Sickles Does Not! Gettysburg
Table 4 Fill the Vacant Ranks  28MM American Civil War Mike Sammarco and Chris Bonni
Description:Historically on July 2nd ,1863 early afternoon the battlefield West of Gettysburg was quiet.

On the Confederate side, Lt. Gen James Longstreet’s 1st Corp’s, was organizing for an attack just south of the Union line. “The Old Man” had ordered Longstreet to attack as soon as he could but Longstreet, being Longstreet, was still waiting for some of his troops from Hood’s Division to arrive on the field.

On the Union side, Maj. Gen. Dan Sickles' main concern was that of the hill with the “Peach Trees” in front of him. A hundred or so feet higher than his current position, if seized by the Rebels it would allow the Confederates to bring up artillery and savage his troops. This fear was based on his own experience at Chancellorsville, only two months before. At about 2:00 p.m. Sickles addressed the problem directly. He advanced his whole corps to the new line on Emmitsburg Road opening a gaping hole in the Union lines.

This hypothetical game’s premise is that Longstreet, seeing Sickles’ advance, does not wait for his additional troops and orders his troops forward.

Join us as the “crème de la crème” of the Confederate 1st Corp, McLaw’s Division, engage in a battle of maneuver with Brigades of the Union 3rd Crop for the high ground of the “Peach Orchard”. Will Longstreet quickly prevail and exploit the opening in the Union line? Or will Sickles show that he was right to advance and stop the shorthanded Longstreet cold?

409 The Battle of Hanghai.
Table 13 Home Crafted 28mm 1932 China Mike Paine
Description:In order to justify military action in China, the Japanese military instigated seemingly anti-Japanese incidents. Five Japanese Buddhist monks were beaten. Over the next few hours, a group burnt down a factory (sources argue this was orchestrated by Japanese agents, though it might have been carried out by Chinese in response to the Hanghai Municipal Police's aggressive anti-riot tactics in the aftermath of the beating of the monks. The Japanese military had already concentrated some troops around the shoreline of Hanghai to put down any resistance in the event that violence broke out. The military's justification was that it had to defend its concession and citizens. Throughout this period, the Chinese 19th Route Army had been massing outside the city, causing consternation to the civil Chinese administration of Hanghai and the foreign-run Concessions. The 19th Route Army was generally viewed as little more than a warlord force, posing as great a danger to Hanghai as the Japanese military. However, at midnight Japanese troops attacked targets around the city and began an invasion. In what was a surprising about-face for many, the 19th Route Army, which many had expected to leave after having been paid, stayed to put up a fierce resistance. The conflict soon spread outwards to much of Chinese-controlled Hanghai. Because Hanghai was a metropolitan city with many foreign interests invested in it, other countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom and France attempted to negotiate a ceasefire between Japan and China. However, Japan refused. Will the foreign powers intervene? Sign up and find out!
